Summary:
- We are looking for a Voice/IP Engineer to design, implement, and maintain voice and IP communication systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in voice technologies, including VoIP, SIP, and PBX systems, as well as expertise in IP networking. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent problem-solving skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality communication solutions that meet the needs of our organization.
- This is for a short term / hourly based project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and maintain voice communication systems, including VoIP, SIP, and PBX solutions.
- Configure and optimize IP-based communication protocols and technologies to ensure reliable and efficient voice services.
- Implement and manage voice gateways, session border controllers (SBCs), and other network devices to support voice traffic.
- Monitor and troubleshoot voice network performance issues, including call quality, latency, and packet loss.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate voice communication systems with other IT infrastructure components, such as unified communications (UC) platforms and contact center solutions.
- Conduct regular assessments and audits of voice infrastructure to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
- Implement security measures to protect voice communication systems from cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and IT teams on voice-related issues and initiatives.
- Document voice network configurations, processes, and procedures for knowledge sharing and future reference.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in voice and IP communication.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in voice engineering or IP telephony.
- Strong understanding of voice communication protocols and technologies, such as SIP, RTP, H.323, and MGCP.
- Experience with VoIP platforms and solutions, such as Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Avaya Aura, or Microsoft Teams.
- Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting voice gateways, SBCs, and IP-PBX systems.
- Knowledge of IP networking concepts, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, and QoS.
- Familiarity with voice codec standards, such as G.711, G.729, and Opus.
- Experience with voice quality monitoring and analysis tools, such as Wireshark or SolarWinds VoIP Monitor.
- Industry certifications, such as CCNA Collaboration, CCNP Collaboration, or Avaya ACSS, are preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
