SD WAN Engineer (Fortinet and/or VMWare)
Summary:
We are looking for a talented SD-WAN Engineer with expertise in Fortinet and/or VMware technologies to join our team as a consultant. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) infrastructure, leveraging Fortinet and/or VMware solutions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network engineering, with a focus on SD-WAN technologies and a deep understanding of Fortinet and/or VMware platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Design, architect, and implement SD-WAN solutions based on business requirements and network performance objectives.
- Deploy and configure Fortinet SD-WAN appliances and/or VMware SD-WAN Edge devices to establish secure and optimized connectivity between branch offices, data centers, and cloud environments.
- Develop and maintain network diagrams, documentation, and standard operating procedures for SD-WAN deployments.
- Configure and optimize SD-WAN policies, including traffic routing, Quality of Service (QoS), and application steering, to ensure optimal performance and resource utilization.
- Monitor and troubleshoot SD-WAN connectivity issues, identifying and resolving network-related problems in a timely manner.
- Implement security features and protocols within the SD-WAN environment, leveraging Fortinet security solutions to protect against threats and vulnerabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate SD-WAN solutions with existing network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Ensure interoperability between SD-WAN components and third-party applications or services, such as cloud providers and SaaS platforms.
- Conduct testing and validation of SD-WAN configurations to verify functionality, performance, and compatibility with different network environments.
- Implement monitoring tools and dashboards to track the performance and health of SD-WAN connections, bandwidth utilization, and application performance.
- Generate reports and metrics to measure the effectiveness of SD-WAN deployments and identify opportunities for optimization or improvement.
- Proactively identify trends and patterns in network traffic and usage to anticipate capacity requirements and address potential bottlenecks.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Network Engineer, SD-WAN Engineer, or similar role, with a focus on Fortinet and/or VMware technologies.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and MPLS.
- Hands-on experience with Fortinet SD-WAN (FortiGate Secure SD-WAN) and/or VMware SD-WAN (formerly VeloCloud).
- Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting Fortinet security appliances (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer) and/or virtualization technologies, particularly VMware vSphere and NSX.
- Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and architectures (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of software-defined networking (SDN) principles and technologies.
